Student Adventures in Learning (SAIL) Program

Dear Mr. Foxx,

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for the wonderful presentation you made at the 2nd Annual Student Adventures In Learning (SAIL) Program Family Night. It is not often that an adult can capture the undivided attention of a large group of teenagers and you did that with optimism and humor. At the end of the night, I spent time talking with parents. The feedback I received was wonderful. One parent came up to me and said that your presentation "hit home" with her son. Just like you said in your presentation, "Winners Don't Quit," I feel we are all winners working with youth and we will never quit helping them. Mr. Foxx you are an inspiration to all of us and I’m sure we will all benefit from your presentation.

Sincerely
Carol McCabe,

To whom it may concern:

During the Fall of 1999 I had the pleasure of meeting Al Foxx as he presented, "Winners Don’t Quit" to the students at Lake Washington High School. During the presentation Al mixed his personal story of tragedy, honesty, determination and humor in order to help students understand what can happen when a young person makes poor choices and then works to overcome difficulties. Al describes and tells his story of a decision gone badly and how he has been able to turn a tragedy into triumph by deciding to be a winner and never quitting.

Over the years I have had the opportunity to present many speakers to my students and I would consider Al to be one of the best in the business. I believe that Al’s message is appropriate for students of any culture and age. If you are looking for a speaker who can cause students to take a close look at their life and captivate them into making better decisions, then I would recommend Al’s presentation to your school.

Dear Mr. Foxx

Thank you for your presentation on the topic of Winners Don’t Quit. Your message was well received by our student body. As per your request listed below are some comments you may use as endorsements of your public speaking ability.

Al Foxx is living proof of how powerful the human mind can be when you focus it clearly on your goals.

Al Foxx captured the interest and attention of every student in the assembly and delivered a very important message-that Winners Don’t Quit no matter what obstacles are placed before them.

If you want to help motivate students to achieve their goals, from making it to class on time to performing on a WASL test, Al Foxx is an excellent choice as guest speaker.

Al Foxx takes his disabilities and turns them into an opportunity to use humor and hope to impact the way students think about their capabilities.

Hope these comments will help promote the good work you are performing with students. Thank you for again for the presentation at our motivational assembly this September.

Sincerely,
Wayne Hashiguchi

Sometimes I feel like I’m alone in my struggle to achieve true happiness and appreciation for who I am. Al, your presentation showed me that we all have struggles, but we can all find happiness by choosing a "Winners Don’t Quit" Attitude. Thanks, I’ll keep dreaming.

Dear Al:

Thank you very much for speaking to my two Single Survival classes yesterday. We talk in class about the power of choice and the long-term consequences of decisions we make. Your presentation brought them a very concrete example of consequences related to choice and a specific decision in your life. You also brought them a very strong message about the decision not to quit. You are a walking testimony to the power of human will, dedication and hard work. Think you can - and you will!

At the same time, you also gave them a reference of experience and knowledge of the world of a handicapped person. Knowledge and understanding breaks down barriers, we are afraid of what we do not understand. Your humorous approach to your challenges is very uplifting and helps many face that fear of people who are (perceived) so different from ourselves.

My students were very touched by your presentation and it provoked some very thoughtful reflection amongst many. Thank you.

Sincerely,
Sue Cocklin-Mills. Instructor
