5th and 6th Grade Dear Mr. Foxx, Thank you for the outstanding performance you gave at our school. Your themes: choices and consequences, the incredible power of setting goals, and winners dont quit are a timeless reminder our fifth and sixth grade students found easy to understand and apply to their own lives. Your storytelling abilities and humorous anecdotes kept their interest through the whole hour. The fact that you talk about you disabilities openly and honestly really speaks to todays youth. When you described how, for years following your accident, routine tasks become major projects, our students realized that they too can overcome their own obstacles, if they just try hard enough. Many students (and teachers too!) walked away from your presentation feeling empowered to set goals and work hard to achieve them. I am sure that all those attending your assembly left with a new awareness of the incredible power of choices. It is a tribute to you and your positive outlook on life that I heard the following comments from students after the assembly: "WINNERS dont quit! Winners DONT quit! Winners dont QUIT!" "What I learned was never drink and drive and ride a motorcycle." "I learned to make good choices and that Winners dont quit!" "I never saw things that way before. I hope he comes back." "If at first you dont succeed, try, try again. Think first and make good choices." "Think twice before you do something that could ruin your life." "Choices are important. You should never quit, because WINNERS dont quit. Winners DONT quit. Winners dont QUIT." "I think that Mr. Foxx was pretty funny and that Winners dont quit." "I learned its not nice to make fun of disabled people. Winners dont quit." "I am very glad you came to our school to help us make good choices. You are a talented comedian. I learned a lot from you. Thanks." "Mr. Foxx, Im really happy you came. You really helped me to understand more about handicapped people. Winners dont quit." "Mr. Foxx taught me that winners dont quit and I never will because of him." "Im glad he taught us about good choices and bad choices and never giving up because winners dont quit." I thank you again for taking the time to talk to the students at John Muir Elementary School. I cannot think of a better way to teach my students the power of positive thinking! I salute you and your courageous crusade to inspire people to greatness. Sincerely,
Robert Frost Elementary School 5th Grade The choices you make can have positive and negative effects on your life. Mr. Foxx shared how the choices he has made since his accident have made him set goals to achieve things so that he can be independent. The following are key messages that Mr. Foxx shared with our class. Winners dont quit is a very important saying that Mr. Foxx lives by in all that he does. ALWAYS wear a helmet when you are riding a bicycle. This is-important because the helmet can save your life if you were to fall. When you fall, get back up! Do not quit! The following are comments from our fifth grade students. "I thought it was great that Mr. Foxx made 50 many goals! I liked him saying Never Give Up!" "You did a terrific job explaining to us why we should wear our helmets and you really made me think about why I should wear my helmet! " "Mr. Foxx taught me that kids shouldnt use drugs." "I think that kids should take Mr. Foxxs advice." "I thought Mr. Foxxs performance what great! He taught us that nobody is perfect. He also taught us that we need to be safe." "I learned that accidents can happen to anyone!" "I am glad that Mr. Foxx never gave up after his accident." "I learned that it is better to be safe than sorry. Wear a helmet!" Mr. Foxx has a very important message and Is willing to make it fit your students needs. We are glad that he was able to share with our class. Kristi Young and Kevin Olson
Robert Frost Elementary School-3rd Grade To whom it may concern, My third grade classroom had the opportunity to listen to Al Foxx present this school year. His presentation had fabulous messages. Winners Dont Quit, keep your expectations high, and make good choices were a few. His personal testimony tied it all together. Students were very attentive while listening and very responsive to Als message. He kept his messages to the point and kept the interest level high throughout. Students were very pleased with his presentation. They even asked him for his autograph which he signed, WINNERS DONT QUIT. Sincerely,
Robert Frost Elementary School-2nd Grade To Whom It May Concern: Al Foxx has been an educational assistant in my class for the last four weeks. He has assisted special education students in making good behavior choices in the classroom setting. Additionally, Al has given motivational speeches to the elementary students in our pod of classrooms. His messages were well received by the students. The speech in my classroom was filled with humor and very important messages that have stuck with the children. He told the children through many of his personal examples that "Winners Dont Quit," and to always "Wear a Helmet." Additionally, Mr. Foxx communicated to the children how after he had his motorcycle accident he had to learn to talk, walk and learn to drive again even after being told he would never do those things. He stressed the importance of a positive attitude, working hard, and setting goals. After he left the comments by the children were very insightful. One eight year old boy said he felt bad, because he had imitated the way Mr. Foxx talked and walked on the playground and now that he knew the reason why he would not do this ever again. "Its important to be nice to people no matter what they are like." A girl indicated that "heads were difficult to fix when they got hurt" and so she would always wear a helmet. Sincerely
Robert Frost Elementary School-Kindergarten To Whom it May Concern, My All-Day Kindergarten class had the wonderful learning opportunity to hear Al Foxxs presentation on Safety and Friendship. His ability to relate personal experience with the lesson was very effective. The children were very interested and responsive to his presentation. His use of humor and appropriate examples reinforced the students understanding that "Super Safe is Super Fun". I would recommend having Mr. Foxx speak to any primary classroom that is learning how to play safe while having fun. Sincerely,
John Muir Elementary School-Kindergarten Dear Mr. Fox, Thank you for teaching us to be kind, to keep our heads safe with helmets, and to also have fun! We also learned it was important to share and most of all we learned that it is o.k. to be different because that is what makes us special. Thank you again!! Love, Mrs. Severn-Kloosters Kindergarten Class "The Tigers"

Northshore Junior HighSounders May 3,200l RE: Al Foxx Presentation at Northshore Junior High On May 2, the staff and students at Northshore Junior High were treated to an hour of soul searching and laughter. Al Foxx, who had been injured in a motorcycle accident several years ago, ambled into our gymnasium and spoke to our students about attitude, goals, and a desire to succeed. Being told by doctors that he would never walk again because of the accident, Al persevered with hours and hours of therapy, a great amount of help, and an inner desire to prove the doctors wrong. The students listened to Als story, laughed at his dry humor, and pondered his difficult transition from "free spirit" to partially paralyzed, yet gutsy opportunist. Al refused to quit, and his message of determination and self-respect was well received by those listening to him. The following morning I received a couple of calls from parents who stated that their students were "very impressed" by Als courage and motivated by his desire to see them succeed. His "bucket full" of self-esteem reminders offered the students practical ways to improve their lives and the lives of those around them. Each positive "tip" showed students that they can make a positive difference in their lives and in the lives of their own family members and friends. Thank you, Al, for sharing, inspiring, and planting the seeds of a "can do" attitude in our students. We were all very impressed! Rob Bastasch * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

a lot better. Like he said, "Winners Dont Quit!" Most assemblies are boring, but Als funny and inspirational assembly kept the
kids glued to him. People who have dug themselves in a hole they think they cant get
out of would probably change their minds after listening to Al Foxx.
Leota Junior High Dear Al: Thank you for an excellent presentation at Leota Junior High School. Your accomplishments are very impressive. It was amazing to see you hold the attention of over seven hundred junior high school students. The students are still talking about your wonderful sense of humor and wisdom. You shared a powerful personal message that students could internalize. The "A, B, Cs" and tips for "Keeping Your Self-Esteem Bucket Full" were right on target for adolescents who struggle with self-esteem issues. You are a role model for both students and staff. I also personally appreciated the extra time you took to help the student who was upset with some other students following the assembly. Even though her issue had nothing to do with you, you became an invaluable resource. You helped her put the problem in perspective. In fact, I think you made her day because you reminded her to believe in herself. It is not often that an assembly presenter will go out of his or her way to help an individual student. It was a pleasure to have you at Leota. Your enthusiasm, energy, sincerity, and talent shined! I wish you continued success! Sincerely, Sharon Williamson

Student Adventures in Learning (SAIL)
Program Dear Mr. Foxx, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for the wonderful presentation you made at the 2nd Annual Student Adventures In Learning (SAIL) Program Family Night. It is not often that an adult can capture the undivided attention of a large group of teenagers and you did that with optimism and humor. At the end of the night, I spent time talking with parents. The feedback I received was wonderful. One parent came up to me and said that your presentation "hit home" with her son. Just like you said in your presentation, "Winners Don't Quit," I feel we are all winners working with youth and we will never quit helping them. Mr. Foxx you are an inspiration to all of us and I’m sure we will all benefit from your presentation.
Sincerely
February 29, 2000 To whom it may concern: During the Fall of 1999 I had the pleasure of meeting Al Foxx as he presented, "Winners Dont Quit" to the students at Lake Washington High School. During the presentation Al mixed his personal story of tragedy, honesty, determination and humor in order to help students understand what can happen when a young person makes poor choices and then works to overcome difficulties. Al describes and tells his story of a decision gone badly and how he has been able to turn a tragedy into triumph by deciding to be a winner and never quitting. Over the years I have had the opportunity to present many speakers to my students and I would consider Al to be one of the best in the business. I believe that Als message is appropriate for students of any culture and age. If you are looking for a speaker who can cause students to take a close look at their life and captivate them into making better decisions, then I would recommend Als presentation to your school. Mark Enoch Robertson
Chief Sealth High School Dear Mr. Foxx Thank you for your presentation on the topic of Winners Don’t Quit. Your message was well received by our student body. As per your request listed below are some comments you may use as endorsements of your public speaking ability. Al Foxx is living proof of how powerful the human mind can be when you focus it clearly on your goals. Al Foxx captured the interest and attention of every student in the assembly and delivered a very important message-that Winners Don’t Quit no matter what obstacles are placed before them. If you want to help motivate students to achieve their goals, from making it to class on time to performing on a WASL test, Al Foxx is an excellent choice as guest speaker. Al Foxx takes his disabilities and turns them into an opportunity to use humor and hope to impact the way students think about their capabilities. Hope these comments will help promote the good work you are performing with students. Thank you for again for the presentation at our motivational assembly this September.
Sincerely,
Michael

City of Kirkland May 17,1999 Dear Al: I just wanted to send you a brief note of thanks for being a recent quality role model addition to the Departments SCOPE program. I enjoyed the thoughtful, humorous, and provocative presentation you delivered recently to students at Lake Washington High School. Your presentation skills kept the kids, and me, actively engaged and focused on your primary message of "choices and consequences" and how simple choices can have life-long impacts. Thanks again for sharing your message and agreeing to being a continuing partner in our SCOPE program. Your efforts are very much appreciated. Sincerely,
Juanita High School May 4, 1999 Dear Al: Thank you very much for speaking to my two Single Survival classes yesterday. We talk in class about the power of choice and the long-term consequences of decisions we make. Your presentation brought them a very concrete example of consequences related to choice and a specific decision in your life. You also brought them a very strong message about the decision not to quit. You are a walking testimony to the power of human will, dedication and hard work. Think you can - and you will! At the same time, you also gave them a reference of experience and knowledge of the world of a handicapped person. Knowledge and understanding breaks down barriers, we are afraid of what we do not understand. Your humorous approach to your challenges is very uplifting and helps many face that fear of people who are (perceived) so different from ourselves. My students were very touched by your presentation and it provoked some very thoughtful reflection amongst many. Thank you. Sincerely, * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * (I) I learned that WINNERS Dont Quit, Winners DONT Quit,
Winners Dont QUIT! Also I learned that filling up other peoples self esteem

others. Good job. Youre very funny. (3) We are all responsible for the decisions we make. Its very
important to never quit. Al has a very good sense of humor. He should keep going to
schools and talking about the power of our choices. (4) I learned: Relationships are like bank accounts, everyone has a self

yourself or others. Setting goals is powerful! (5) Winners Dont Quit! Choices are powerful. Dont let other
people make choices for you. He did a wonderful job of explaining his point with examples. (6) Winners Dont Quit, Winners Dont Quit, WINNERS DONT

person. I wish thered been more time to talk to him one on one. (8) Reach for your goals. Dont give up. Winners Dont Quit!
You should keep speaking to people. Youre a great inspiration. (9) Winners Dont Quit! The self esteem bucket. Friendships are

talk is useful to me now and it will be useful to me in the future. (10) What may seem like an unimportant decision at the moment could
effect you forever. Al should come talk to every class. His information was very useful,
especially at a prom or a graduation.

Seattle Preparatory School Dear Al Thank you so much for coming to our Health classes. The students were so very touched by your courage, wisdom and commitment to your physical and emotional health. They said that they felt overwhelmed by your conviction to be a "Winner. They all loved the power of your speech therapists words: Winners dont Quit!". You are a living hero to all of us struggling with our own ability to reach our personal goals and stay committed to them. Our students were struck by how menial their own personal goals were in comparison to yours. They would leave class saying "If Al can reach his goals and be the winner in life that he is, then I can ,TOO!. You give your audience hope and confidence that they thought they never had. I look forward to having you come to our classes throughout the year. Our mission in Health is to be good to ourselves and accomplish our personal goals. You motivated us all to look at all we can become and do for others as we help ourselves accomplish our goals in the areas of physical, emotional and spiritual health. We have you to thank for touching that part of our hearts that motivates us to be better people inside and out. Thank you, Al. Please read these notes an letters of thanks from our students. Seattle Preparatory School To Whom It may Concern: Al Foxx has been speaking to the Sophomore Health classes at Seattle Prep for the past 6 years. The students have benefited greatly from the experience of meeting Al Foxx. Al is one of a kind and leaves a lasting impact on the students at Seattle Prep. When Al is on campus, the juniors and seniors acknowledge and welcome his presence, reflecting from the encounter they had in their sophomore year with him. He is truly loved by our students. His personal story, mixed with humor, engages every student. He is a true example of a winner. His message of goal setting, hard work, self-esteem and die-hard perseverance are imprinted on us all. The students take these lessons and can immediately apply them to their lives. I would highly recommend Al Foxx as a motivating and inspirational speaker to any group.
Sincerely,
Cedar Park Christian Schools To Whom It May Concern: We recently had the pleasure of hearing Al Foxx speak for our 6th-10th grade Chapel. Al Foxx has a powerful testimony concerning God working in impossible situations. God spared his life when he was involved in a serious motorcycle accident. Doctors told him that he would never walk, talk, or drive again. Al is living proof of God's miraculous, restoring power. Al's wit and heart felt approach were very effective. Al challenged the students to be "winners that don't quit". He exhorted them to look at what they have, rather than what they don't have. He encouraged them to have a vision for their life and set goals to accomplish their dreams. I strongly recommend Al Foxx as a Chapel speaker. He is an inspiration to all that have the pleasure of hearing him speak. If you have any questions, please feel free to call me at 425.37.6992-Cedar Park Christian School's Everett campus. Master's Touch Christian School Dear Mr. Fox, Thank you so much for coming to Master’s Touch. We truly enjoyed having you here and what you had to share greatly touched our lives. What a testimony you are of God’s powerful work in a person’s life. You have gone through so much and can truly identify with other’s pain. You were so right when you said we’ll all have our own “crash.” Jesus said, “You will have tribulation, but be of good cheer, have overcome the world.” You are an overcomer! Thank you also for taking the time to minister to our students after chapel. You were such an encourager. One student said “he made me laugh for the first time in a long time.” I can assure you that that young lady has had tremendous struggles in “belonging.” She along with several others, have never known their real parents... and that weighs heavy upon them. Thank you also for your incredible positive approach to life...”use what God has given you.” How true. You said so much in saying that! You’ve definitely made an impression on my life. I truly pray that many more doors will continue to open to you ... You are such a blessing!
In Jesus Love,
Puget Sound Adventist Academy Dear Al: Thanks for coming and sharing your personal experience in such an inspirational talk. The kids really liked your presentation. There was a good balance between humor and the importance of setting goals, making good choices and never quitting. Your message was powerful and the humor captivated their interest. Your message was of particular interest to me because of knowing you as a former student. It is encouraging to see former students committed to making a difference in other young peoples' lives. A week later I still here students saying; "WINNERS don't quit! Winners DON'T quit! Winners don't QUIT!" Several of the students have asked if you could come back some time in the future. More comments were made as follows: "The most important thing I learned is that "Winners Don't Quit." "The two most important things I learned are, Choices are powerful and "Winners Don't Quit." "By his stories and his life experiences, I learned that you can do anything you set your mind and heart to and don't give up. I thought he was the best speaker I've heard in a long time because he has so much self confidence to make all those funny jokes." "Winners Don't Quit! Al Foxx's presentation helped me in my life." "The phrase "Winners Don't Quit!" really got to me. I will always remember it. He was very funny. I'd like to hear him again." "Choices are powerful! Doing drugs is stupid!! Winners Don't Quit!" "I think Al FOXX was the best comedian I've ever seen in person." "Life is what you make it. Al FOXX is so positive, he is a real inspiration." "Al Foxx's story was real inspiring and extremely funny. I hope he speaks at our graduation." Thanks again for coming and sharing with us. Sincerely,
Arlington Christian School I haven’t been reading my Bible very much and I know I
need to, and you have inspired me to. I also know that even if I stumble, I need
to keep trying to serve God with all of my heart. You have deeply influenced me
to live a more Christian life and I know you have influenced many others and
will continue on influencing others. Thank you for speaking at our school. We had a lot of
good laughs. It was really fun. I enjoyed listening to you. I believe all of
what you said, we have a lot of good and bad things in this world, but you have
to put the good product in if you want something wonderful to come out. I call
that plan God’s recipe. It was really wonderful. Thanks again! Thanks a lot for coming and sharing your experiences
with us. I found them very entertaining and it puts things in perspective. Also,
you haven’t wasted your life, you have taken something bad and turned in around
for God. I believe that there was a reason for your crash and I think that you
are following through with God’s new plan for your life along with changing
other people’s lives and bringing them to Christ. Anyway, I want you to know
that you’ve made me think a little more about the material
things of this world
vs. the spiritual things of God. Thank you. I wish my mother could have been
here to hear you. Thank you so much for taking time to preach to us today.
It meant a lot to me. you taught me that I should be grateful for everything I
have and for the way I am cause my life could change
in a second. You also taught me I need to keep my eyes on Jesus and to not get
distracted. Thank you again and God bless. Thank you for coming to chapel today. We all loved
hearing your message. You’re a very good speaker and
are welcome to come back any time. Your message spoke to us all. We learned to
keep going and not give up. We also learned that God does everything for a
reason. Thank you again and God bless.
Holy Family School Dear Mr. Foxx, I just wanted to write and thank you for
coming and speaking at our school. The kids enjoyed your presentation and you definitely
made an impact on their lives. I know because even after the assembly ended and it was
time to go home, they were still talking about you and how you motivated and reinforced
them in a positive way. Sincerely,

University of Washington DO-IT Program Dear Al Foxx, Thank you for participating in the 1998 DO-IT Summer Study Program as our Mentor Night stand up comedy act and motivational speaker. We have asked the students in your audience to give you feedback on you presentation. Below are theyre actual remarks. Did you enjoy his presentation? What did you learn from his presentation? What did you like the best about it? Was there anything you didnt like about it? Was there too much comedy, not enough comedy or just the right amount of comedy in his
speech? "I enjoyed Als speech. I felt that it was appropriate for our age group. The most vivid point I got from the speech is that things happen in a split second, and once they do, you cant change them no matter how much you want to. Along those same lines, his "winners dont quit" message was a good one, especially for disabled people. It gives them inspiration, I believe. The speech was great, and I feel that there was just enough comedy to make it light-hearted, but to still keep a serious theme going." "I really enjoyed his speech. I think it was a good idea to have him here to tell his story. The comedy made us laugh but at the same time he taught me a valuable lesson. Its easier for me and others to learn important things while having fun. And yes I think it was appropriate for my age group." Did you enjoy his presentation? What did you learn from his presentation? What did you like the best about it? Was there anything you didnt like about it? Was there too much comedy, not enough comedy or just -the right amount of comedy in his
speech? Do you feel that his speech was appropriate for your age-group? What suggestions would you have for him to improve his presentation? Did you enjoy his presentation? What did you learn from his presentation? What did you like the best about it? Was there anything ,you didnt like about it? Was there too much comedy, not enough comedy or just the right amount of comedy in his speech? "Not enough." Do you feel that his speech was appropriate for your age group? What suggestions would you have for him to improve his presentation? "The crux of the issue concerning not only Al Foxx, but also other activities at DO IT is truly whether or not we believed we couldnt "DO-IT" in the past. I know well that "winners never quit", abut Ive known ,- that for years. It just-seems like preaching to a converted choir." "Overall I thought the presentation was ok. The comedy was good, but I didn't enjoy the motivational speaking part. -I thought some of the times it was unclear what was intended to be a joke, and what was simply part of his story and speech. Perhaps, he could have told a bit about himself, and given the speech before he did the comic routine. Giving that information would have made the comic routine more enjoyable, and it also would have provided a more serious atmosphere for the speech. As before though, it was a good routine and quite funny. I hope this helps." Did you enjoy his presentation? What did you learn from his presentation? What did you like the best about it? Was there anything you didnt like about it? Was there to much comedy, not enough comedy or just the right amount of comedy in his speech? "Just the right amount." Do you feel that his speech was appropriate for your age group? What suggestions would you have for him to improve his presentation? Again, thank you for participating in the DO IT program this summer! Kristin Otis
